About Us

Travel that actually gives something back

Most holidays leave you needing a holiday. You come home with a full camera roll, a lighter bank account and the same knot sitting between your shoulder blades that you left with. A yoga holiday works the other way around. You slow down instead of speeding up. You eat well, sleep properly, move your body every morning, and spend a week or two among people doing exactly the same thing. You come home lighter — and unlike a tan, it lasts.

Yoga Holidays exists to make that kind of trip easy to find, easy to compare and simple to book.

What we are

We are an independent booking platform for yoga retreats, meditation courses, yoga teacher trainings and wellness holidays. On any given day you'll find retreats across [X]+ destinations on our site — beachfront shalas in Bali, olive-grove farmhouses in Andalusia, mountain lodges in the Alps, ashram-style centres in Rishikesh, and quiet, wood-fired cabins a few hours from home.

We don't run the retreats ourselves. We work with the people who do: independent teachers, family-run retreat centres, established schools and small hosts who have spent years building something worth travelling for. Our job is to bring their work in front of the right guests, present it honestly, and handle the booking so that nobody has to exchange fifteen emails to reserve a room.

Think of us as the part of the trip that should be effortless — so the rest of it can be meaningful.

How this started

The idea came from a genuinely frustrating search. [Founder name] wanted a two-week retreat and spent the best part of a month piecing it together: a forum thread from four years ago, an Instagram account with no prices, three websites where the booking form was a mailto link, and a listing site that quietly added a service fee at the final step. The retreats themselves were wonderful. Finding them was miserable.

That gap — extraordinary experiences, terrible discovery — is the reason Yoga Holidays exists. We launched in [year] with a small handful of partners and one stubborn principle: a traveller should be able to see what a retreat costs, what's actually included, who is teaching, and what the room looks like, without signing up, without chasing anyone, and without a surprise at checkout.

We've grown a lot since then. That principle hasn't moved.

How we choose the retreats we list

Not everything that applies gets listed. Every retreat on the platform goes through a review before it goes live, and we look at the same things you would:

  • Who's teaching. We check credentials, training lineage and experience. A beautiful villa with an unqualified teacher isn't a yoga retreat — it's a villa.
  • What's really included. Meals, transfers, class hours, excursions, equipment, single-supplement charges. If it isn't included, the listing has to say so. Vagueness is the most common reason we send a listing back for edits.
  • Where you'll actually stay. We ask for honest photography of the real rooms and shared spaces, not stock imagery or a rendering of a room that doesn't exist yet.
  • What past guests say. We read reviews across every platform we can find, and we follow up on patterns rather than one-off complaints.
  • How they treat their guests. Cancellation terms, refund handling, how quickly they answer a question, what happens when a flight is delayed. This tells us more than any brochure.

Retreats that don't meet the standard don't get listed. Retreats that stop meeting it get removed. We'd rather show you sixty retreats we'd personally book than six hundred we can't vouch for.

What we promise you

  • Best price guarantee. Find the same retreat, same dates, same room, cheaper elsewhere — we'll match it. Booking through us should never cost you more than booking direct.
  • No booking fees. The price you see is the price you pay. We don't add service charges, platform fees or “processing” costs at the last step. We're paid by our retreat partners, not by you.
  • Handpicked, verified retreats. Every listing is reviewed by a human before it's published, and re-checked as it runs.
  • Real support, around the clock. Retreats happen across a lot of time zones, and questions rarely arrive at a convenient hour. Someone from our team is reachable 24/7 — before you book, while you're deciding, and once you're on the road.
  • Clear, complete information. Skill level, daily schedule, food, what to pack, how to get there from the nearest airport. The details that decide whether a retreat is right for you belong on the page, not in your inbox three weeks later.

For teachers, hosts and retreat organisers

If you run retreats, you already know the hardest part isn't teaching — it's filling the room. Marketing eats the time and energy you'd rather spend on your students, and the ad platforms don't care whether your retreat is any good.

We're built to fix that specific problem. Organisers list retreats on Yoga Holidays for free, manage dates, prices and availability from a single dashboard, and receive enquiries and bookings directly from travellers who are actively searching for what they offer. We handle the discovery, the search visibility and the booking flow. You keep your guests, your teaching and your reputation.

We also keep our partner standards deliberately high, because that's what protects everyone on the platform. A marketplace where every listing is trustworthy is worth far more to a good organiser than one that lists anything with a photo.

The people behind it

We're a small, distributed team of [number] people spread across [locations] — developers, editors, customer support and a few genuinely obsessive travel researchers. Between us we've practised in a lot of shalas, slept in a lot of shared dorms, and sat through a lot of 6am sessions we'd rather have skipped and were glad we didn't.

That matters more than it sounds. Nearly everyone here has been on the guest side of this, which means we know what's missing from most retreat descriptions, we know which questions people are too polite to ask, and we know what it feels like to arrive somewhere and find it isn't what the website suggested. We build the site to prevent that.

Where we're heading

The plan is not to become the biggest listing site on the internet. The plan is to be the one people trust — the place where a first-time retreat guest can book with confidence and a fifteen-year practitioner can still find something they haven't done before.

That means deeper, more useful listings rather than more of them. Better search, so “affordable, vegetarian, beginner-friendly, under four hours from home” is a query that actually works. More support for small independent hosts who do brilliant work and can't outspend the big schools. And a booking experience that stays honest as we grow, particularly about price.

Come and find yours

Whether you're looking for a first gentle weekend, a serious 200-hour training, a silent week with no Wi-Fi, or somewhere warm to move and eat well and stop answering emails for ten days — it's out there, and it's probably closer and more affordable than you think.

Have a look around. If you get stuck, ask us. We're genuinely happy to help you find the right one, even if it isn't the one we'd expect.
