The school and its rooms have an Indian-inspired feel, and the bathrooms come with a shower, toilet, and washing machine. Guests can enjoy a swimming pool, gardens, chill-out areas, terraces, and free Wi-Fi.
Gayatri Yoga is a yoga school, not a hotel, with room for only 12 students. For this reason, the school values mindful students who know what they are signing up for and see themselves as part of the group and the school community. While Gayatri cannot meet every personal request, the team always does its very best.
Next door there is a guesthouse with five cozy private rooms, where students who prefer more privacy can stay during the training.
Since everyone has different eating habits, allergies, and food intolerances, students are free to use the school kitchen to prepare vegetarian breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks to suit their own tastes. Usually, students form kitchen teams and cook dishes from around the world together, having plenty of fun along the way. This means no one has to cook every day, as each team typically cooks only twice a week. Those who prefer more privacy are welcome to prepare meals just for themselves. Working side by side in the spirit of Karma yoga brings the group closer and creates a sense of unity throughout the training.
The school provides a wide range of groceries, with plenty of fruit and vegetables available all day. No student has ever gone hungry or left unhappy, and there is really no need to buy anything extra or spend money on food, as the school kitchen is always open to students. Individual requests cannot always be accommodated, but a supermarket close to the school is available for anyone who wants their favorite personal snacks. Please note that the following items are not permitted at the school, as they are not part of the yogic diet: meat, fish, seafood, eggs, garlic, onion, coffee, alcohol and tobacco.
This yoga teacher training in Tenerife, Spain, is a great fit for anyone who wants to explore classic Indian yoga in more depth. Participants will build a stronger personal practice while acquiring the knowledge and hands-on skills required to teach yoga with confidence.
The quality of the training and the commitment of its experienced teachers are what make Gayatri Yoga stand out. As a small, supportive school, Gayatri puts personal attention ahead of large class sizes. Twenty years of experience and excellent student feedback say it all.
Gayatri places far more value on the quality of its courses than on a trendy location or a beachfront setting. This has helped the school keep its prices affordable over the years, so students can train to become excellent yoga teachers at a fair cost.
For the Gayatri team, everything comes down to love and devotion to yoga.
Founded 20 years ago, Gayatri School of Yoga was among the first schools in Spain to specialize in yoga teacher training. Both the school and all of its teachers are registered with Yoga Alliance and follow its standards closely.
More than 2,000 students have trained with Gayatri, which offers high-quality yoga teacher training at an honest price. For anyone looking for a serious program that leads to a teaching career anywhere in the world, Gayatri is an excellent choice.
The course is equally open to those who simply wish to expand their knowledge of yoga, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and the other subjects covered, with no plans to teach. It offers in-depth learning and a chance to take a personal practice to the next level.
Train with Gayatri Yoga on the beautiful island of Tenerife, Spain.
Graduates who complete this training successfully can register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT).
Giving students the best possible support is one of Gayatri Yogaβs core values. Its main goal is to help each student become a well-rounded yoga teacher.
Before the course, students receive a PDF for the pre-distance learning component, with an overview of the key topics. This way, everyone arrives well prepared, even those who book at the last minute.
Gayatri knows that teacher training is demanding and calls for discipline. At the same time, the school wants to welcome aspiring teachers who may hesitate because of physical limitations or health issues.
Nobody is expected to overexert or push themselves. The main focus is learning how to teach others, not only developing oneβs own physical practice.
Attendance at all classes is required to complete the training hours. If certain asanas are not possible for a student, that is perfectly fine. They can support the teaching team in assisting other students, and take notes, photos, or videos to help their learning. When it is their turn to teach, they can ask a fellow student to demonstrate poses.
A key part of the course is learning hands on assists for all asanas and pranayamas, and how to support future students safely. Anyone who can accept their physical limits, stay focused on the teachings and keep a relaxed attitude towards themselves is welcome to join.
Part of the journey is finding oneβs own path as a teacher and learning to rest when the body asks for it. Many students arrive with physical challenges of their own. By accepting these limits, they can become an inspiration to others. Being mindful of oneself always comes before an ego-driven practice.
As Gayatri says: βIf you suffer from any limitations or painful issues, you will understand the needs of your own future students much better.β
Listen to your body and flow, because limitations exist only in the mind. And always remember: βYoga is so much more than asanas.β
Gayatri Yoga is a small, friendly school that normally welcomes between 10 and 12 students per training. Keeping groups small means every student gets maximum support on the way to becoming a yoga teacher.
The course goes well beyond asanas, combining in-depth background knowledge with plenty of practical training. Students experience a wide variety of asana practices and learn how to bring their own personality and variety into their classes.
The training also teaches how to adapt asanas confidently to each studentβs individual needs. Gayatri is always there for its trainees, and what makes its teacher training special is the quality of the experience, not the number of participants.
Before arriving, students are asked to let go of judgment and criticism towards themselves, others and their surroundings. The knowledge is already within each person, and this course is simply a doorway to learning and experiencing it.
The teachers will motivate, guide and inspire, but each student also has to put in the work.
Gayatri Yoga follows the traditions of Swami Satyananda and Swami Sivananda. The training covers Kriya, Jnana, Raja, Bhakti and Karma yoga as described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the foundation of every yoga style.
